This is an interesting article about Nepali porters in the Himalayas, including Mount Everest. I saw that mountain from a distance by land and air in 1987.

Unfortunately, I wasn't surprised when I read the following news story from India.
This is an interesting article about two British children of Chinese ancestry who attended an elementary school in China for four months.
David and I had a wonderful trip to Calgary that started on Sunday, July 23. We spent two nights with our friends Larry and Dave (and their cat, Maurice) in Calgary. While there we went to a new Tibetan restaurant with Bob and Brian. David and I also went to the T & T Asian supermarket, which I loved. Then we stayed with our friends Sharon, Brian and William (their smart and fun eight-year-old son) at their acreage near Millarville. It's about 30 minutes southwest of Calgary in a beautiful setting with rolling hills and a creek. They have four dogs and two cats. David stayed for one night, before driving to Vancouver to visit his father, but I stayed for two. I came back to Saskatoon on Thursday by bus to continue my writing, which is what I'm focussing on during my holiday this month. Thanks to our friends in an near Calgary for the great time that we had!
I'm glad that Canada is hosting this important event, despite our horrible Prime Minister.
