I'm going to have say a combination of words that I hoped to never say: "Prime Minister Harper". However, there is some good news. It's a minority government, and the number of NDP seats in the House of Commons has increased by about 50%. I'm disappointed that Saskatchewan again elected mostly Conservatives and didn't elect any NDP candidates, reinforcing the stereotype that "the West" is Conservative.

I've taken a wee bit of comfort in the notion that our fellow flatlanders aren't necessarily redneck grunts when they vote Conservative. It occured to me that, with the folding in of the Reform/Alliance/whatever they were called, many folks out here believe this party actually gives the West a voice. After generations of alienation, they'll grasp at any straw, no matter how disgusting. The consolation I draw is that they're a bit dumb, but not dour and mean. -ML
Good point, ML!
