It's wonderful to have so much rain these days, especially after the drought we've been had for the past several years. Everything is so green when I walk in my neighbourhood and beside the river that I feel like I'm living in a garden.

HAPPY CANADA DAY! Even though our country isn't perfect, I feel very lucky to live here when I think about some of the horrible things that are happening in other parts of the world.

I'm glad that the federal election is over, especially because of how negative the campaign was at times.

The Conservatives didn't win!!!!!

The bad news from the federal election is that the NDP didn't win any seats in Saskatchewan. The good news is that Jim Pankiw lost his seat in Saskatoon, Jack Layton won his and the Liberals will have to listen to the NDP (at least some of the time) when their minority government is in power.

Today is the federal election, and I'm about to go vote before work. I'm also volunteering as an "outside scrutineer" after work today, to help make sure that people who have indicated that they'll vote NDP have actually voted. If Stephen Harper becomes Prime Minister, I worry about the future of Canada!

And I know how Irish-Americans in the New York area talk, what kind of couches they buy, and what kind of plastic slipcovers they put on the couches. ... But I'm more interested in what's going on in their heads than what's going on their couches."
