"No good movie is depressing; all bad movies are depressing." - Roger Ebert

"Psychotherapy and writing are both about using small details to find out what's going on, as opposed to what people say is going on. Both fiction and psychotherapy are about putting your hands on people's lives, to be intimate." - Amy Bloom

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY:

(quoting the title of a movie from my childhood)

THE GOOD:

Mayor Jim Maddin, Police Chief Russell Sabo, MLAs David Forbes and Pat Atkinson, and NDP federal leader Jack Layton attended the awards banquet that kicked off GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered) Pride Week in Saskatoon. The mayor helped present the awards.

Same-sex couples in Ontario, for the time being at least, can get married.

THE BAD:

Opponents of same-sex marriage continue to say things like, "If we allow this, what's next? Interspecies marriage?" (from a letter in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix)

THE UGLY:

Homophobic MP Elsie Wayne's wardrobe!

"The best and the worst thing about life is that you don't know what is going to happen." - John Edgar Wideman
