The Roman poet Horace (Quintus Horatius Flaccus) was born on this day in 65 B.C.

"Think to yourself that every day is your last; the hour to which you do not look forward will come as a welcome surprise."

"Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans: it's lovely to be silly at the right moment."

More than 2000 years later, his advice is still good.
